A relationship multiplicity constraint violation occurred: An EntityReference can have no more than one related object, but the query returned more than one related object. This is a non-recoverable error.

Most likely you’ve been changing/creating relationships in the EDMX. One thing to notice: for all relationships 0..1 in the queried element, outer joins will be created and added to the query. However, that must not change the overall result and object number returned.

One way to spot this is to fire up sql query analyzer.
